The Mexico City Police has captured the man who harassed President Claudia Sheinbaum. The apprehension occurred around 21:00 in the vicinity of the Historic Center. According to the detention record, the man, identified as Uriel 'R', was referred to the Capital institution's Sexual Crimes Investigation Prosecutor's Office. It is expected that the person will be informed of their rights at the location and processed by the Public Prosecutor. It remains to be seen if a formal accusation will be filed and if the case will go before a judge.
How the aggression happenedThe President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, left the National Palace at noon this Tuesday to greet capitalinos who were in the Historic Center. The head of state came out accompanied only by elements of her aide-de-camp, who were asking reporters who were capturing the scene to make space. Some people approached to greet her and to ask for photographs. As she passed, she even greeted a group of young tourists from Durango who were walking through the Historic Center. 'I admire you very much, President', 'Thank you for the work you do for Mexicans', said some young people, who then organized to cheer for her. When a larger group of citizens gathered, a man in a gray shirt approached the head of state and surrounded her with his arms, while bringing his body closer. In the video that is already circulating, it can be seen that two people who were watching said: 'Hey, hey'. 'Get him away', pointed out a man. An element of the Presidency, apparently from the aide-de-camp, approached to remove the man, who still managed to mumble a few words.
